Lazy D & D RV Resort

We stayed here for a week after our beach boon-docking debacle.  Luckily I had called and reserved a spot in case we had issues on the beach.  The ladies at the front desk were super helpful in taking our reservation.  The park just under 70 spots.  A few of them are taken by full timers who live there.  They have a nice canal that goes around the park that you can paddle board in, but we never used it.  The sites are pretty level and have decent space between them.  They do not have a dog park area but there are a few open spaces to let the dogs run.  All sites have full hookups and 30/50 amp.  Some amenities are less than a mile to the beach, pool, and laundry facility on site.

Verizon cell service was just fine.  AT&T hotspot was also at almost max.

Pro’s:

  • The beach is less than a mile away.  You can drive down the beach and find the perfect spot!

  • Sites are spaced nicely and level.

  • Just off Highway 87 but cannot hear much road noise

  • Front desk staff was awesome.  I can’t say that enough.  They held a spot for us if we had issues on the beach, but didn't charge us until we arrived.

Con’s:

  • The roads are not that even around the park so when it rains there are some huge puddles that stay for days.

  • When it does rain the water sits on the sites for awhile.  Not much they can do about that but more of a FYI.

  • The pool is not heated so if you are not there in the summer months it can get chilly.  We were only able to go there one day when the air temp was about 75 degrees.  Water was still chilly.

Overall our experience here was great.  Its a good location if you want more of the quiet side, with a short drive you can take the ferry to Galveston for some fun, and the ferry is FREE!  The owner of the campground has a bunch of cows out back and he has a Donkey that hangs with the cows. If you shout out “Jesus (hey-zues)” he will come visit, if you have some carrots of course.
